Playmaker Highlight | Samuel Washington

Introducing Xenith Playmaker Highlights - where we will introduce a growing community of athletes, creators, coaches, and parents who are chasing dreams and taking their skills and experiences to the next level.

We know everybody has their own set of skills, a list of goals, and unique stories/experiences to tell, so this is our attempt to shine some light on these talented and ultra-motivated individuals.

This Xenith Playmaker Highlight features athlete Samuel Washington, a defensive back (#6) playing for Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. We asked Sam a list of questions to learn more about him, his football journey, and where he plans to take it. Here's what he said:

1.) What got you into football?

"When I was in middle school, my cousins would play football in the backyard after school let out and I would get in trouble because I came home with grass stains on my school pants. So my uncle took me to my cousin's football practice and I tried out for the team."

2.) How has football impacted your life? 

"Football has had a huge impact on my life because it taught me discipline and kept me away from getting into trouble in Detroit."

3.) What are your football goals/dreams?

"My football goal is to get 3 more rings so I can fill up at least one hand with rings, and make it to the NFL."

4.) Why should people follow your football journey?

"People should follow my football journey because I’ve beat all the odds that have been stacked against me and made the best out of my situations, which allowed me to be where I am today mentally and physically."

5.) What is your favorite football memory?

"My favorite football memory is being the defensive player of the game in my senior year of high school and winning the State Championship."
