2023 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic Matchups Announced

Get your game faces on, Detroit. The official matchups for the 2023 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic (XPKC) to take place August 24-26, at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University have been announced by the Detroit Sports Commission (DSC).

The 2023 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic will kick off the high school football campaign as the premier season-opening high school football showcase in Michigan. An exciting six game slate over the course of three days will feature teams from multiple divisions and powerhouse conferences - including the state of Ohio.

“The Detroit Sports Commission is proud to once again kick off the high school football season in Michigan with an exciting lineup of games at a great setting in the heart of Midtown Detroit,” said Marty Dobek, Detroit Sports Commission Deputy Director. “The 2023 event will feature a tremendous collection of high school football teams from Michigan and Ohio and also include school bands and cheerleaders for fans to experience at this annual signature event in the city of Detroit.”

2023 XPKC Matchups

The event lid-lifter between Walled Lake Western and Waterford Mott high schools will kickoff Thursday, August 24 at 4 p.m., followed by Chippewa Valley vs. West Bloomfield at 7 p.m. On Friday, August 25, Taylor High School will take on Allen Park at 4 p.m., preceded by the Belleville vs. River Rouge nightcap at 7 p.m. On the final day (Saturday), Detroit Cass Tech will open against Southfield A&T at 1 p.m., followed by Detroit King vs. St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH) in the event finale at 4 p.m.

How to Watch

Tickets will be available at a later date online at detroitsports.org, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting each school. One ticket will grant admission to all games on that particular day.
